Sharp calculators have come a long way since they were first designed in 1964 at the Sharp factory. While those calcualtors could only do simple things like addition and subtraction, the calculators we have today have over 640 functions (the EL-W506T). One of these functions allows you to do definite integration on the calculator.
On your Sharp EL-W506T advanced scientific calculator make sure that you are in Normal mode. To integrate, we press the ALPHA and then the open bracket button (
). You should see this on your screen:
In the spot where the arrow is pointing, you put the lower limit of you integral, e.g. -pi (press 
). Press the up button (
) to get to the upper limit of the integral.
Type in the upper limit of the integral, e.g. pi (). Press the right arrow button (
) to move into the expression part of the integral.
Now type in the expression of your integral. You can use the RCL button (
) to make an X – just press it twice.
E.g. we have sin x so we press sin (
) RCL () twice.
Press equals to see the answer:
We’ve done this calculation in degrees. However, you can also do it in radians. To change your settings to radians quickly, press 2nd F (
) then press the decimal button which says DRG above it in orange (
). You would need to retype in the expression after this so make sure your settings are correct before starting the calculation to save time.
